The Perfect Soul Mate
A teacher and his student were sitting under the big tree near the school field. The student suddenly asked his teacher a question.
"Cher, I'm confused. How can we find the perfect soul mate? Can you please help me? "
Silent for a few seconds, the teacher answered, "Well, it's a question that is both difficult and at the same time easy to answer. Let me try to elaborate. You see the field over there? There is a lot of grass there, why don't you walk there and try to find a beautiful grass, pick it up and bring it back to me. The only condition is that you must never turn back, just walk straight ahead.
"Well, that should be easy." The student then walked towards the field.
A few minutes later.
"I'm back."
"Emm, well I don't see any beautiful grass in your hand."
"On my journey through the field, I did find a few beautiful grass but I thought that I would find a better one later, so I didn't pick them up. Then I realise that I've reached the end of the field and I haven't pick any. Since you told me that I could not walk back so I didn't turn back to pick any of the earlier ones."
"That's what happened in real life."
What is the message of this story?
* Grass --> People around you
* Beautiful Grass --> People that attract you
* Field --> Time
In looking for our soul mate, we tend to compare and hope that there will be a better one. Nobody is perfect yet very often we want to look for the prefect soul mate and in the process misses out on those less than perfect ones. By doing that, we are actually wasting our time and may even end up feeling miserable and lonely. We should always try to accept the less than perfect ones for what he/she is and be glad that he/she is also willing to accept us for what we are.
